La \u00f3smosis ocurre cuando el casco no est\u00e1 protegido de manera \u00f3ptima y la humedad penetra a trav\u00e9s del gelcoat. All\u00ed se acumula en cavidades que est\u00e1n presentes en el laminado de cada barco debido a la construcci\u00f3n. Dado que el laminado no es \u00abimpermeable\u00bb, la resina que une las fibras de vidrio se descompone formando un \u00e1cido, atrayendo m\u00e1s humedad hacia el interior, debido a su tendencia qu\u00edmica a diluirse. La presi\u00f3n en la cavidad aumenta y empuja el gelcoat hacia afuera como una burbuja. El gelcoat quebradizo se abre y el laminado se expone al agua de mar sin protecci\u00f3n. A medida que contin\u00faa el proceso de \u00f3smosis, el laminado se descompone cada vez m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n

Para detectar da\u00f1os causados \u200b\u200bpor \u00f3smosis, E \/ M \/ S realiza una inspecci\u00f3n visual del casco y una medici\u00f3n de humedad con un dispositivo especial.
